Black Middens

The Black Middens are a shelf of rock off Tynemouth, notorious for drawing ships on to them and sinking them. In a dream, a jet black steam train emerges from the North Sea at South Shields laden with anthracite coal flanked by hills of coal in the sea.
A kind of resurection. Durham was stripped of coal and steel but there is still coal under the North Sea.
