Germany has an archipeligo of islands off the north west coast called Ostfrisenland.
The are yet undiscovered by the English despite the English Language eminating from there. The other islands are called Borkum, Memmert, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Wangeroog and Mellum. Which one sounds the most rustic? Many houses are thatches and some ban vehicles although cycles are allowed. They are small and sandy so a bicycle is not essential. Use dry chain lubrication as wet oil attracts sand which wears down the cogs. These islands are in the centre of Europe but are remote. Heligoland in the German Bite is red sandstone, a fortress island swapped for Zanzibar with the English.
