Kensington and Chelsea

Behind Barker’s department store in Kensington Court Place is a English Heritage blue plaque to T S Elliot who wrote The Wasteland and about received culture. Do not cycle off the cycle paths in Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens. Kensington and Chelsea is vulnerable to flooding (see Flood Street in Chelsea) protected by the Thames Barrier. Another enhanced Thames Barrier is planned. Embassies flank Kensington Gardens and you are free to cycle down Kensington Palace Gardens from the French to the Israeli Embassy.

In the theory of received culture fashion cascades from established wealthy with time and money to practice cultivation. This is seen by ordinary people and copied. When the armed forces are protecting Britain the centre they are protecting is Kensington and Chelsea.

Cycling is being developed in London and there may be diagonal routes across Kensington Gardens.
