Coventry

Coventry: First English city bombed by Germany. Two beams one in Germany the other France, the bombers ride the beams. The dead lay in the streets as my mother witnessed, cycling through the night from Newtown. Coventry is radial. Coventry Canal starts at the centre. Notices tell of James Brindley (1716-1772) who built Coventry Canal in 1768. Working families lived along the canal. They would take days or weeks to distribute and deliver cargo. This a contour canal passes under M6 after Coventry City FC heading north. Here are summery views across Warwickshire heading east to Hawkesbury Junction where the North Oxford branches south east to Antsy. Coventry canal turns north to Nuneaton, then across The Black Country to Alvecote, Fazerley and Birmingham.
