Shakespeare lived in Deptford. a South East London inner suburb. If William Shakespeare was Italian as is alleged it would be no co-incidence since Deptford is on a Roman Road to Dover and the Roman Empire beyond across the English Channel.
Deptford is not a well-to-do district but an ordinary London High Street. There is is little to see of William Shakespeare in places. His legacy is in plays, in yourself and the character and plots of people you know. You are Henry V. She is Richard III. Timing is everything. Try and see Hamlet or Macbeth al fresco on a Cambridge college lawn in summer. The college buildings are perfect backdrops. The actors are the best in the country and the costumes add to the suspension of disbelief.
